Tips for Painting Nails (For Men and Women)

Painting nails is a therapeutic and artistic process. The end goal is a manicured and polished set of nails, but the result is often a mess. Luckily, there are many tips and tricks to consider for painting nails well.

Best Tips for Painting Nails

1. Paint With Thin Layers

Some paint polish on thick, which can lead to lumps and a distorted appearance. If you want the best results with your nails, paint on the color a thin layer at a time. It will look much better and it will dry more efficiently, too.

2. Take Your Time

It’s easy to want to rush through the nail painting process. Many don’t give themselves enough time and must push through it quickly to get to their next event. Unfortunately, not taking time while painting nails can lead to disastrous results.

It’s best to take your time with each nail, pushing off the excess on the brush before painting it on. Also, wait and allow the paint to dry to ensure it’s stable before adding the next layer. It will make the paint look much more saturated when complete.

3. Avoid Quick Dry Polishes

Although they might seem incredible, quick dry polishes are more of a scam than an effective painting tool. Unfortunately, no two formulas are the same across brands. They also dry rapidly on the brush, which means you’ll be dealing with paint clumps sooner than traditional nail polish options.

4. Use a Top Coat

A top coat seals the deal. No matter what, apply a thin layer of clear topcoat at the end to solidify the color and protect it from the elements. You need a top coat if you don’t want your nails to gather imprints from around the home.

5. Try Cuticle Oil

Finally, it’s helpful to keep your cuticles in excellent condition if you want well-polished nails. Cuticle oil can help keep your cuticles healthy and nourished. It also will make your nails shiny if you rub it on the surface after applying the top coat.
