Men are usually simple when it comes to their skincare routine but, these days more men are interested in pursuing healthier skin. Men’s skin is thicker compared to women’s skin and other than that there are other key differences between men’s and women’s skin but, the elements of the skin care plan are the same.
Men’s skin types
- Normal – clear and not sensitive
- Sensitive – may burn or sting after use of a product
- Dry – flaky and rough
- Oily – greasy
- Combination of different skin types – oily in some areas
Clearer skin tips for men
- Cleanse your skin
Use a mild facial cleanser and wash using lukewarm water instead.
- Moisturize daily
Moisturizer traps water in your skin that helps reduce the appearance of lines. It also helps in making your skin look younger. Apply moisturizer to your face and body right after bathing, shaving, or showering while your skin is still damp.
- Stay hydrated
Water helps in maintaining your skin’s elasticity. It helps reduce soft lines and wrinkles.
- Never forget to use sunscreen
Sun can damage your skin and cause wrinkles, age spots, and worst skin cancer. Apply a broad spectrum water resistant with an SPF 30 sunscreen before going outdoors. Include your scalp, neck, ears, and lips. Reapply every two hours after sweating.
- Don’t touch your face
Avoid touching your face to prevent inflicting germs and bacteria that are present in your hand.
- Check your shaving technique
Use a single or double-blade razor if you often experience razor burns or razor bumps and do not stretch your skin while shaving. Use a shaving cream that has moisturizer and shave towards the direction of hair growth. Rinse after each swipe and change blades every five to seven shaves.
- Eat healthily
Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants. These antioxidants help in having smooth and soft skin.
