We're Hard Podcast Show

Unfortunately, infidelity is common in many relationships today. After you find out about infidelity, it can be a gut-wrenching realization. What’s even trickier is deciding what to do about your partner. Should you forgive them and continue with the relationship, or leave them behind and move on with your life?

Benefits of Forgiving Infidelity

Several good things come with letting go of infidelity in a relationship. Although it might not be the right choice for every situation, some hurt couples will benefit from it.

Some benefits of forgiving infidelity include the following:

  • Healing: Forgiveness is crucial to a healing process. By forgiving the other person, you open up an opportunity to release intense feelings and potentially discuss the future. It might not end in continuing the relationship – but it will benefit your health.
  • Potential future: If you love each other, forgiveness opens up the opportunity for a future with them. It’s a necessary part of staying together with something so significant.
  • Strengthening opportunity: Finally, forgiving infidelity provides a chance to grow together through something terrible. Something good can come from something unfortunate.

Disadvantages of Forgiving Infidelity

Forgiveness isn’t the right choice for everyone. In some cases, forgiving infidelity might hurt you instead of benefitting.

Some disadvantages of forgiving infidelity include the following:

  • Constant hurt: Forgiving your partner makes you vulnerable to pain. You will remember what they did.
  • Possible repetition: Unfortunately, many cheaters are prone to cheat again. Time will tell in your relationship.
  • Unhealthy: Finally, some relationships result in cheating because they are unhealthy. Do not stay in these relationships.

Every Situation is Different

It’s vital to remember that every situation and one cheating scenario in a relationship might not be the same as the other. Consider these pros and cons to make the right choice for your life. No matter what, infidelity is an unfortunate destroyer in many relationships.
