We're Hard Podcast Show

Long-distance relationships are a common occurrence in the modern world. Although they’ve been made slightly easier with technology, they are still tricky to handle. Luckily, there are some ways you can handle this divide to make it to the other side.

Is It Possible to Survive a Long Distance Relationship?

Whether you’re in a long-distance relationship by choice or force, it might seem impossible to get through it. Luckily, there are ample examples of long-distance relationships that have survived. Although it will take work, long-distance relationships are often some of the healthiest.

How To Handle Long Distance

1. Be Slow to Overthink

Although it can be tricky, always try to be slow to overthink. It can be hard when you don’t see your partner every day, but overthinking will only lead to stress and harm to your relationship. Whether you’re scared about your partner cheating or think something has happened to them, try to take a few deep breaths

2. Make Something to Look Forward To

To survive a long-distance relationship, you need something to look forward to together. Whether it’s the next time you see the other person or when your long-distance relationship will end, establish something to look at where you can create a countdown to make every day in between far more bearable.

3. Ensure Distance is Temporary

Long-distance relationships should never be permanent if you want your relationship to survive. Whether it means moving to them, them moving to you, or both shifting locations together, discuss a plan to move your relationships from long distance to intimate. Never leave it up to a question on how permanent your long-distance relationship is.

4. Don’t Overcommunicate

Finally, try not to bombard each other with excessive communication. Although it might seem contradictory, the less you can communicate throughout the day, the easier it will be to be apart. Don’t bombard them with texts. Try to set aside a specific time when you can video chat or call and update each other on your days.
