Today we’re going to talk about how to know when it’s time to break up with someone. Breaking up is never an easy decision for anyone involved. Sometimes we know deep down it’s time to end things but how do you know for sure?
Here are a few signs to look for: You’re no longer happy in the relationship. This is one of the most important sins. If you’re unhappy, there is no point in staying in this situation.
You’ve lost respect for your partner. You are no longer on the same page and you eye roll or cringe whenever they talk. When you no longer respect someone, you have reached the point of no return.
You are constantly arguing. This is the worst! Everything’s an argument and you disagree on every little thing. CALL IT QUITS
You are no longer compatible. Your values have changed, and you and your partner are no longer on the same path. You are constantly compromising to keep the peace, but you get no compromise in return. This is a sign to end it.
You’re not interested in spending time with your partner. You would rather hang out with friends, or work or be alone. It’s time to move on.
Of course, these are just a few signs that it may be time to hit the road. If you do choose to leave the relationship, here are some of our tips to make the breakup as pain free as possible.
Tip #1 Do it in person. There is nothing shittier than receiving a breakup text, email or phone call. Get on your big girl panties and man up.
Be honest and direct. This step is hard, but necessary. Your honesty and directness will allow your partner to see clearly the reasoning behind your decision.
Tip #3 Be kind and compassionate. Breaking up sucks! There is love lost and feelings will be hurt. Be as understanding as possible.
Tip #4 Do not get into a debate. Be resolute in your decision and do not argue about it. There is no point to go back and forth on the subject. This step will allow for a clean break.
Hopefully following these steps helps you in your next breakup!
