Every relationship has its struggles, some bigger than others. Unfortunately, it’s common for couples to lose the spark in their relationship. There are many practical ways to rekindle that spark to keep the relationship alive.
Why Do Relationships Lose Their Spark?
There are many reasons why a relationship might lose its spark. The most common reasons include losing communication, forgetting to show affection, and a breach of trust. Any negligence in a relationship can cause the spark to fade.
Signs of a Stale Relationship
If you’re scared you might have a stale relationship, there are a few signs you can look for. Common signs include a lack of trust, little close relationship, constant arguing, no availability with emotions, and attraction to other people.
How to Locate Your Relationship Spark
1. Go for Big Romantic Gestures
One of the ways to rekindle a relationship is to go for some significant relationship gestures. Speak to your significant other and determine their love language, along with the ways they feel most loved.
If they love getting gifts, offer significant presents when they least expect it. If they love words of affirmation, tell them you love them and compliment them whenever possible.
2. Show Physical Affection
If you lack physical affection, try to show more of it. Hug or kiss your significant other. Or, consider cuddling up on the couch whenever it’s time to watch a movie. Physical touches can make a difference.
3. Do Something New
There’s no better way to draw closer together and rekindle your spark than doing something new. You don’t have to do anything dramatic like skydiving, you can do anything exciting you’ve never done before. For instance, consider playing a new video game together or going to a pottery class.
4. Create Date Nights
Sometimes, a spark goes out because you haven’t spent enough time together. The best way to counteract this is to schedule specific date nights during the week. Pick a good day you can keep consistent to keep your relationship alive.
5. Keep Communication Central
Finally, ensure you have communication at the center to keep the spark alive. If you don’t speak with each other, you’ll have no idea how to keep your love intact.
