We're Hard Podcast Show

Although erectile dysfunction is the more commonly understood version of sexual struggles, women also suffer from sexual dysfunction. They impact each body differently but are both critical to discuss and address in different ways.

Erectile Dysfunction vs Female Sexual Dysfunction

Men and women can experience issues in sex. The most common in men is erectile dysfunction, while female sexual dysfunction is on the other side. These terms encompass a much larger variety of troubles in the body.

There are typically four kinds of dysfunction that can impact men, women, or both:

  • Pain disorders: Men and women can have a pain disorder. Women experience pain from dryness, UTIs, hormonal changes, vaginismus, and more. Men get pain from UTIs, yeast infections, herpes, and more.
  • Orgasm disorders: Women typically experience orgasm disorders, which include no orgasm or a delayed orgasm from stress, hormonal changes, and more. Men more rarely encounter this struggle.
  • Desire disorders: Desire disorders for both individuals can be caused by low libido, hormonal changes, and more.
  • Arousal disorders: Men and women can struggle with arousal disorders, but it’s most common in men with erectile dysfunction.

Why Do Both Conditions Matter?

Both conditions matter because they both impact the body and the sexual experience between partners. Whether it’s the man, woman, or both individuals experiencing the struggle, it can lead to an issue in a relationship that’s long-term and could be disastrous as tensions and insecurities build.

It’s vital to kill the stigma surrounding erectile and female sexual dysfunction. The more they are talked about, the easier it will be to get help for individuals and create more solutions.

Are There Common Treatments for Both?

While some versions of erectile dysfunction and female sexual dysfunction aren’t treatable right now, there are common treatments for several varieties. You can talk to your doctor to determine if any are possible.

If there is a physical issue, mechanical aids and medication will be helpful. If it’s all in the mind, therapy, counseling, and other strategies could assist.
