The Impact of Stress on Sexual Desire and Performance

Stress is one of the most frustrating things for any individual to experience. One of the areas it can impact is sexual desire and performance, which leads to all kinds of struggles in a relationship. If you or your loved one experiences stress, it’s critical to handle it and understand what it can do to you and how to lower your stress.

How Does Stress Impact Sexual Desire and Performance?

Stress has a more significant impact on the body than many people realize. The more you understand what it does to your body, the easier it will be to examine what is in your life and what you must refrain from. These are the results stress can have in romantic relations.

There are several ways stress impacts overall sexual desire and performance in an individual:

  • Keeping/maintaining arousal: Stress can impact the mind and make it nearly impossible to keep an erection or maintain one.
  • Lack of sex drive: Stress can reduce your desire and make it much trickier to get in the mood.
  • Disinterest in the act: Stress can take over your mind, which can provide far less desire for the act and ruin the experience with your partner.

Ways to Lower Stress for Sexual Desire and Performance

Luckily, there are ways to lower stress, which will benefit your sexual desire and performance. Some are physical, others mental, and others require communication with your partner. Reducing stress is a must.

Here are some practical ways to lower stress for your desire and performance:

  • Communication: Speak with your partner about your stress or talk to a therapist about the situation.
  • Meditation: Meditation comes in many forms, like yoga, and it can calm down the mind and lower stress.
  • Exercise: Working out is an excellent way to reduce stress through endorphins. Endorphins are valuable in the bedroom.
