Stress can be the effect of different kinds of factors, it’s either personal or professional, or sometimes it could be because of both. Experiencing stress, affects our health hence affecting our day-to-day life. Although it’s easier said than done, there are ways to manage our stress. Here are five proven strategies for managing stress and improving mental health:
- Practice deep breathing
Deep breaths can help in the activation of your sympathetic nervous system. Practice by taking in deep breaths for five seconds then release for a count of five seconds as well.
- Meditation
One of the best ways to distract yourself is by meditating. Meditation has been proven to help cope with stress. Not only does it help with your physical health but it’s also great with improving your mental health. Guided meditation through personal trainers or reliable online applications can be utilized depending on your liking.

The food you consume and the physical activity you do is an important factor in your mental health. Stress can negatively affect the number of vitamins and minerals in your body. Including nutritious food in your diet, replenishes your body and helps in reducing your stress internally. Plus, exercising regularly keeps your mind off stressful things and keeps your body fit.

A sense of community is vital to your life. We are social beings and by finding a sense of community, we enjoy a shared activity that supports relationships that can be our support in times that only a personal relationship can mend or help.
