We're Hard Podcast Show

While you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, hair is among the first things many people notice. It also will help you feel clean and put together, pulling any outfit together with a well-kept style. It’s vital to know how to care for your hair.

Why Does Hair Care Matter?

Hair care matters for appearance and hygiene. If you care for your hair, it will appear healthy and clean to the rest of the world. It will also keep your scalp healthy, helping you smell good and avoid an itchy and uncomfortable experience at every moment.

Practical Hair Care Tips

1. Wash Your Hair Less Often

Although it might seem contradictory, washing your hair less often will keep it cleaner and healthier. While shampooing is a way to clean your hair, shampooing too much can strip the hair of natural oils that keep your scalp in excellent condition.

Ideally, wash your hair a few times a week. Those who are worried about greasy hair can try dry shampoo to keep up the hair’s appearance in between washes.

2. Use Conditioner Effectively

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to douse your entire head in conditioner when using it. Instead, start at the ends of your hair and slowly move your way upward. The tips need the most help, while the scalp requires the least conditioning.

3. Protect Hair When Styling

Heat can do significant damage. Try not to heat style or blow dry your hair often. When you do, use a heat protectant spray to keep it safe.

4. Brush Hair Dry Instead of Wet

While it might be tempting to brush your hair straight out of the shower, we don’t recommend it. Wait for your hair to dry before combing it to keep the strands in excellent condition.

5. Watch Out For Your Hair When Sleeping

Finally, remember to care for your hair even when you’re sleeping. Use a sleep cap or a loose braid to defend it and swap out your traditional pillowcase for a silk one. A smooth fabric won’t tangle the hair as much.
