How Often Should Couples Have Sex?

There is no right amount of time for couples to have sex. However, many studies have landed on some numbers that average out to typical satisfaction.

The average couple has sex 54 times a year, with adults in their 20s averaging closer to 80 times a year and those in their 60s closer to 20 times a year. Ultimately, it’s up to you and your partner to decide what’s right for you. 

What Happens When a Relationship Lacks Intimacy?

Unfortunately, a lack of intimacy can have unfortunate consequences, especially if the relationship is lacking in other areas. Physical intimacy matters more than many people think.

If there is lacking intimacy in a relationship, couples could experience feelings of loneliness, neglect, and disconnection on an emotional level. It’s very tricky for a relationship without intimacy, or that fails to address a lack of intimacy healthily, to survive. 

Is It Normal to Lose Intimacy in a Relationship? 

Intimacy in a relationship can drift thanks to boredom, lack of trust, feelings of bitterness, long distance, lack of prioritization, and more. It happens when couples allow themselves to drift apart. If you’re in a committed relationship, you must do everything possible to continue growing closer to your partner.
